What is tongue tie?
18 Year old Male Patient undergoing orthodontic treatment was diagnosed with tongue tie/ankyloglossia. Patient had problem with speech specially with contain syllables like.
Tongue tie of the patient was released local anaesthesia and complete tongue mobility was likened and after the release of fibres.
Physiotherapy was advised and patient was referred to speech therapist for further connection.
Tongue is a congenital(birth defect) disorder in which the lingual freeman is unusually short and thick or attached to tip of the tongue causing decreased mobility of the tongue.
Symptoms – Difficult lifting the tongue to the upper teeth or moving the tongue from side to side.
Speech Difficulties – Tongue tie can interfere with the ability to make certain sounds – such as “t”, “d”, “z”, “s”, “th”, “r”, and “i”.
