Dr. Sumesh Kaistha is a highly accomplished Gastro-Intestinal & Liver Transplant Surgeon with extensive experience in advanced liver transplantation, GI surgery, GI oncology, and robotic surgery. He currently serves as Director of Liver Transplant, GI Surgery, GI Oncology & Robotics at Venkateshwar Hospital, Dwarka, New Delhi.
Previously, he was Professor & Head, GI Surgery & Liver Transplantation at Army Hospital (R&R), New Delhi, the premier hospital of the Indian Armed Forces. Selected by the Armed Forces Medical Services for specialized liver transplant training in the UK, he successfully revived and led the liver transplant program at AHRR, making it the highest-volume public-sector liver transplant center in India, with expertise in both DDLT and LDLT.
He has led complex multi-organ retrievals, optimized transplant outcomes, and was appointed by the Government of India as team leader to establish a liver transplant center in Myanmar. His career reflects clinical excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to advancing liver transplant care.
