Symptoms
- Incubation Period – 2 To 3 Months ( 1 Week to 1 Year)
- Initial Symptoms – Fever, Pain, Pricking or Tingling Sensation at wound site.
Types of Rabies
FURIOUS RABIES
- Hyperactivity, Hyperexcitability, Hallucinations, Hydrophobia, Aerophobia
- Death ( Cardiorespiratory Arrest)
PARALYTIC RABIES
- Paralysis of the Muscle Starts at the site of wound and then gradually progresses
- Coma and Death

- Eliminating Rabies in Domesticated Animals
- Immunisation of People
Pre Exposure Prophylaxis
- Two Vaccines day 0 and day 7
Recommended for High Risk Occupation
- Individuals working with live rabies or rabies like virus people in direct contact with Bats or ither Mammals infected with rabies
- Travellers or People living in remote, highly rabies endemic areas
Post Exposure Prophylaxis
- Thoroughly clean the wound with Soap and water for atleast 5 Minutes
- Immunoglobulins or Monoclonal Antibodies

When Do You Need A Rabies Vaccine
- Touching an animal or animal licks ( no exposure)
- Nibbling or scratches no bleeding
- Multiple scratches or mucous membrane or broken skin contamination with animal saliva

- Wound washing and vaccination
- Wound washing, vaccination and rabies immunoglobulins or monoclonal antibodies
